The Art of Stillness

4 Day Yin Yoga Training Immersion

Optional 5 Day Teacher Certification

The stillness and softness of yin and meditation are powerful antidotes to the constant movement of our contemporary life. This training immersion is for anyone curious to dive into the techniques, postures, philosophy, and methodology of yin and meditation. By learning, embodying and sharing these practices, you offer a medicine for the modern world.

It was a safe & supportive place. I felt energised and curious, calm and empowered, and happy. It has sparked something in me ... Yin is more than rest and being still, it is magic.
— Tara Bowering

About the course

Slow yourself down and settle into a nest of softness and ease across the Easter long weekend. Each day you will learn and experience a different element of yin yoga. From postures to meditation, myofascia to mindfulness. You’ll engage in discussions, enquiry, education, and  long, spacious practices each day. Through the perspective of both ancient and modern systems, we will see how these elements can create a potent experience to settle and sooth us physically, mentally, and energetically.

Lead Facilitators Adam Whiting, Tessa Leon, and Claire Winther will guide you through this program, each focusing on different areas of the practice.

Optional 5 Day Teacher Training Certification

For those interested in teaching yin yoga, join an optional fifth day on 29 March to turn this into a 40hr teacher training. The course was really energising and inspiring. It felt much deeper and more profound than I was expecting. I loved the deep dives on individual poses, including exploring different variations to make things work for different bodies. The expert teachings on mediation, mindfulness, nervous system processes and fascia was intelligent, relevant, and wise. The course overall exceeded expectations and has inspired me to share yoga and yin teachings more frequently with myself and with others in my family and community.

This program has profoundly transformed the way I facilitate Yin. The care and attention given to different body types, skeletal structures and variations was incredibly insightful and useful in allowing me to support a broader range of people and their unique needs in any given pose. The facilitators shone a very bright and powerful light on the interconnectedness of body and mind, evidencing the interplay between the physical Yin postures and one’s own cognitive approach, biases, and nervous system state. A course I’d strongly urge any Yin Yoga facilitator to attend.

About the Facilitators

Adam

With twenty years of experience teaching across the United States, Asia, and Australia, Adam Whiting’s approach to the many practices of yoga is rooted in the understanding that movement is a pathway toward self-understanding and a sense of belonging. His teaching seeks to bridge the gap between technical precision and embodied experience, merging anatomical fluency with integrated musicality.

Through a solid scaffolding of precise sequencing and elegant cueing, Adam’s classes, workshops, and trainings are designed to move students beyond the rational and relentless mind and into a state of steady presence. His practice and his teaching balance the strength of intelligent vinyasa with the settling and grounding practices of yin, meditation, and yoga nidra.

Tessa

Tessa’s work aims to spark wonder, reconstruct meaning, and find fluency in our shared humanity. Over the past 2 decades, she’s had the privilege of guiding thousands of people through the complexities of human experience and shaping their presence in the world. As the Co-founder and lead facilitator at Human.Kind Studios, today she’s immersed in teaching meditation and mindfulness, guiding yoga and movement, nurturing engaged community, hosting crucial conversations, writing poetry, and completing a Masters of Psychotherapy at Adelaide Uni.

She is currently an Emerging Insight Dharma Teacher in the Theravada Buddhist Lineage (modern vipassana), and is completing a four year program and mentorship with the Insight Meditation Institute Australia. He’s also completed a Diploma of Mindfulness and Compassion Teaching, as well as the two year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. She sits regular silent retreats with the IMA sangha, Openground, and the Spirit Rock community.  She aspires to keep living in the confluence of creativity, spiritual inquiry, and activism. Poised gracefully on life’s tightrope of beauty and chaos, offering wisdom and refuge to all beings in our tender and beautiful world.

Claire

Claire found yoga soon after the birth of her first son in 2009 as a way of regaining some pre-pregnancy strength and balance while creating some space as a new parent. She was hooked after her first class and quickly yoga became an integral part of her self-care routine.

About 7 years later, her son suggested she look into becoming a yoga teacher as it was clear how much she loved and benefitted from the practice. In 2016, with the unwavering support of her husband, she decided to take the plunge. Since then, teaching has been an ongoing ardour which Claire accepts as a wholehearted privilege. The eternal student herself, she gains inspiration from the students and crew in the Human.Kind community, her own practice, the ancient teachings, her beloved family and the impact yoga has on her body, mind and spirit.

For Claire, she believes we are all a masterpiece in progress. Some days the work is easier or more obvious than other days. Mistakes are a chance for growth when approached as embodied wisdom and enveloped with compassion. She is known as a story teller, anatomy enthusiast, and a traditional devotee with a spark of playfulness. She will welcome you with an open-heart to share within the community at Human.Kind.
