Abi Catchlove
(she/her)
Counsellor - Starting Late September
Abi Catchlove is a Masters-trained and PACFA clinically registered counsellor with over 6 years experience, and over 13
years working in education with culturally-diverse populations. Her specialty has been supporting people navigating grief,
loss & life changes, principally using EMDR therapy with a mindfulness-based and IFS-informed lens.
She is drawn to the depth of this work, holding space to explore what's surfacing in you, with curiosity and compassion.
She believes holding space begins with a grounded sense of presence, and as such, always strives to embody her values, thus
her counselling practices are guided by authenticity, curiosity and empathy, while recognising you as the expert in your life.
You are welcome here: reaching out and being open to therapy takes courage, thank you for making this time and space for
yourself.
Before you know kindness as the deepest thing inside, you must know sorrow as the other deepest thing. - Naomi Shihab Nye
Grief is our human response to loss, and we can experience it through death, loss of relationships, shifts in identity,
ecological grief, career changes, or loss of an anticipated future. The law of nature is impermanence, which means we are
constantly invited to adapt to change; in minute and monumental ways. Even though navigating emotional landscapes as
we sit with loss can be complex and overwhelming, Abi believes grief can act as a medicine; an expansive offering towards
healing. All feelings towards our losses are valid. Processing grief in therapy can allow space to make meaning of your loss,
whatever form it takes. Dedicated to holistic wellbeing, Abi accompanies people alongside their grief, knowing that even
though it is deeply personal and private; it’s also a universal experience we can lean into collectively; where solidarity and
connection meet.
Alongside individual therapy, Abi facilitates Grief Day Retreats each year, seasonal women’s circles, has presented webinars
on ecological grief, and will be holding an ecological grief circle for Nature Festival 2026.
